Alex is a very handsome, affectionate, and fun-loving boy full of personality. He relishes cuddle time and ear/belly rubs. He also enjoys training and play sessions in the yard, going for long walks, and romping with other dogs. He is very smart and picks up training games quickly, but is also strong-willed and would do best with an experienced and confident care giver. He is a big boy (currently around 70 pound), but young and still hasn’t fully grasped the concept of personal space. When combined with his very friendly and exuberant nature, it is good to be extra mindful if he is around small children or older individuals. Alex was adopted out of the shelter system when he was 4 months old. There is a senior dog with health issues at his current home and Alex has had a difficult time learning to interact gently with the older dog. He gets along well with other dogs and has shown no aggression, but is bold and would love to have a playmate who was up for some rough-and-tumble fun! He is crate trained and stays in his kennel at night and regularly for a few hours at a time when no one is at home with him. Alex enjoys having a variety of toys to entertain himself with and may find “undesirable” things to play with or chew on if toys are not available. A cat-free home with a large, fenced yard would be preferable for Alex. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. If you feel Alex would be a great match for you, please complete an adoption application on our website www.lsar.org.
