~~Sit down and grab a tissue folks, here's Dexter's story.  Dexter (not his real name) was a bottle-fed kitten of a local family.  As he got older (and bigger) he became a little contentious - nipping and swatting - so he was declawed.  Last year while being transported from a local vet. clinic to the family's home, the crate door came open and Dexter escaped.  The family put up posters in the area - to no avail - although they didn't go in to the trailer park where the cat later showed up.  Befriended by a resident cat lover, Dexter lived in a cardboard box on the gentleman's porch.  In early spring LSAR started a T/N/R project in the area and we were asked to find the cat a new home.  He was moved to a foster home where it took a while (2 months) for him to settle in and become bonded to his foster person.  After 4 months, his picture was recognized on facebook and the former owner was contacted.  To date he has not been reclaimed.  At 16 pounds and with an attitude it's going to be difficult to find him a new home.  He prefers women to men and would do best as an only pet.  Once bonded, he will make a loyal pet.  If you are interested in changing his status from "abandoned" to "adopted", please complete our matchmaking form at:  www.lsar.org .
