About Whiskey & Pickle

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Sugar Glider
  • Rescue ID: 16-whiskeypickle

~~Coutesy listing:  I have 2 sugar gliders who need a new home.  I am looking for someone who has sugar glider experience.  I initially rescued them from a shelter, after they had been abandoned.  I have spent the year with them, making sure they were healthy and had a good home.  I realize that because of their nocturnal lifestyle, I am not the best home for them.  Whiskey is an older male - not sure the age, but he is a mature male and has been neutered.  He is a bit aloof, but friendly, as far as sugar gliders go.  He does not like to be handled, but seems to enjoy being petted and hand-fed his treats.
Pickle is a younger male and was immature when I got him, but seems to have already been neutered.  Pickle is more friendly and curious.  He likes to climb aboard my hand and munch on his treats from there.  I believe with more attention he would be a very friendly critter.  FMI please contact Cindy at:   scattracker@yahoo.com

They have a very diverse and complete diet.  I feed them HPW diet, various protein sources (chicken, turkey, eggs, worms, crickets, etc) and a helping of fruits and veggies.  They also enjoy an assortment of sugar glider treats (acacia gum jelly, yogurt chips, graham crackers, shredded mozzarella cheese, etc).

I have a very large enclosure for them, which could possibly come with them.  It is a about 5 feet tall, 3 feet wide.  They have some standard cage "furniture" but I mix it up occasionally with branches, ramps, hideaways, and toys.  I think this kind of enrichment is important.

I am NOT looking for a "rehoming fee." However, I want them to have a good home with someone who is a bit more of a night                                                                                               owl than I am.  (They typically wake up at around 9:45 and are awake all night.)  They will require some patience and a gentle, quiet, loving environment.
